Lowland Coastal - 2060

Lowland Coastal Landscape - as it is today:

A low lying coastal landscape where farm land is protected from the sea by manmade flood defences. Land nearest the sea is protected by flood defence embankments and tends to be grassland due to the risk of occasional flooding from the sea during larger storms. The higher ground further inland (often behind a secondary inland flood defence) is less vulnerable to flooding so farming is more intensive and a wide range of crops and livestock are produced. Hedgerows are low in height and thickness with relatively few mature hedgerow trees.
