Upland Landscape - as it is today:
Uplands such as the Quantocks have a mix of land uses, ranging from conservation grassland to more intensive dairy or beef production, arable (mainly cereal) production and mature woodlands ( common on hill tops). Farmsteads tend to be isolated and widely distributed. Hedgerows are generally maintained to a set width and height, though individual hedgerow trees are allowed to mature.
